Fifteen Years of Proven Success
Founded in 1988, Innovacom was one of the pioneers of venture capital in Europe, and has backed successful French start-ups in information and telecommunications technologies such as Gemplus Card (IPO), Business Objects (Nasdaq IPO) and Picogiga (acquired by Soitec).

Beginning in 1994, Innovacom followed a more international strategy, leading to successes both in the United States, with Four11 (acquired by Yahoo) and Tumbleweed (Nasdaq IPO), and in Europe, with Intershop (Neuer Markt IPO), Integra (IPO), BinTec (IPO), and Micronas (Zurich stock exchange IPO). In France, this strategy led to the emergence of the world leader in SOI wafers, Soitec (IPO), as well as to international successes like Infovista (Nasdaq IPO) and Digigram (IPO).

In 1998, Innovacom was the first venture fund in France to invest significantly in spin-offs from research institutes via its seed fund, Technocom. Innovacom took advantage of this very favorable period for new business creation by investing very early, and its high risk-taking was rewarded with successes such as Memscap (IPO), Algety/Corvis (Nasdaq IPO), Coheris (IPO), Netcentrex (acquired by Comverse) and Highwave (IPO). Our initial investments in online content and services via Innovacom 3 contributed to the emergence of the first major European internet brands such as Kelkoo (acquired by Yahoo), LastMinute.com (IPO), Alapage.com (acquired by France Telecom), Maximiles (IPO) and AuFéminin.com (IPO). The U.S. portfolio had a record-breaking success with Cobalt Networks (Nasdaq IPO).

In 2000, Innovacom launched the Innovacom 4 fund, which invested heavily in companies centered around broadband access technologies. Early successes from this fund include Inventel (acquired by Thomson), Lea (acquired by HF), RightVision (acquired by Alcatel), and others.

Innovacom 5, a 120 million Euro fund, was launched in 2003 with prestigious investors from France, England, Germany, Denmark, Singapore, and the United States, and is still actively being invested.

In 2004, Orange transferred the management of its Orange Ventures fund to Innovacom.

Since our inception, we have kept the focus on the same key sectors and geographies that have sustained our track record: materials and components, telecom hardware, telecom software, enterprise software, and content and services.
